Radiation cross-linked hydrogel dressing "GIDROBINT No. 1"
“GIDROBINT No. 1” is a Ukrainian anesthetic dressing. It is made of a radiation-cross-linked hydrogel containing silver nanoparticles. It`s unique formula is successfully used in the treatment of burns, open wounds, healing after surgery, ulcers and erysipelas.
Medical dressings “GIDROBINT No. 1” are rectangular plates of 10×10 cm in size of elastic (elastically stretches two fold), moist to the touch material – a hydrogel of high molecular weight polymers, radiation cross-linked by electron beam treatment together with the packaging, which ensures its sterility.
The material consists of water for 80-90% of its weight. The rest is made up of polymers used in the food industry and an antiseptic in the form of silver nanoparticles.
“GIDROBINT No. 1″ significantly accelerates healing of wounds and burns due to its bactericidal effect on pathogens creating and maintaining moist environment in the wound, close to natural in the tissues of the human body. It does not stick to wounds and therefore can be removed completely painlessly. Due to its transparency, it allows you to monitor the condition of the wound without removing the dressing.
The product is manufactured under the license of the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

USEFUL PROPERTIES OF "GIDROBINT №1"
Pain relief and sorption
With a unit cell size of hundreds of nanometers, GIDROBINT No. 1 is able to pass through drug solutions and diffuse oxygen molecules, but not to allow bacterial infection to pass through. All RZGGs can contain water-soluble antiseptics, painkillers, hemostatic and healing agents and simultaneously absorb physiological wound secretions.
The material does not adhere to the wound, which makes the process of removing the bandage non-traumatic and completely painless, as the newly formed epidermis is not damaged and thus does not inhibit the healing process of the skin at the site of the burn or wound. In addition, the application of such a dressing, together with the use of appropriate medications, effectively stops bleeding without the formation of a hard crust at the wound site.
In “GIDROBINT No. 1”, non-toxic biologically inert polymers do not cause irritation or allergies. All this makes it a very attractive material for wound dressing.
The “GIDROBINT No. 1” dressing were used in the combat field to treat skin burns caused by phosphorus.
"Granulation is super! The shaft is growing, but not high! Reduction of the area by 1.5 cm in three days! The fighter had previously been sent by doctors for a future (in their words) amputation. Because the wounded had large popliteal and inguinal lymph nodes. Despite all the ointments (placental base 70%, hyaluronic - 60%), healing restrained the progression, but granulation did not occur. Now we have no enlargement of the lymph nodes, good granulation, a clean wound and healing of the "shaft". I hope that we will get rid of the "shaft" as well, because we had another "operation". Cooling
Applying “GIDROBINT No. 1” directly to the damaged skin gives an instant anesthetic effect – water, which has a high heat capacity, immediately cools the wound and stops the process of tissue destruction.
In this regard, the dressing are particularly suitable for use in the field, where there is often no access to water bodies, let alone a water supply system, because, for example, snow can only be used for a limited period of time if necessary.
Disinfection
“GIDROBINT No. 1” is completely sterile and cleanses the wound, absorbing various secretions from it – blood, secretions, fibrin and necrotic tissue. It performs an antiseptic (disinfectant) function with the help of silver nanoparticles.
At the same time, bacteria will not be able to get to the affected area, since their size exceeds 1 micron, i.e. they are larger than the size of the material’s mesh cells.
Silver nanoparticles can kill all types of bacteria without harming human tissue, which ensures its painless use.
The vast majority of antiseptics not only kill microorganisms but also damage human tissue. That’s why the wound starts to burn if you anoint it with iodine, alcohol, or brilliant green. Antibiotics work only on limited types of bacteria.
Unlike other drugs, silver nanoparticles act like torpedoes that punch holes in single-cell microorganisms. A silver nanoparticle denatures (destroys) a localized area of the membrane of the contacted unicellular organism. As a result, a hole is formed in the microbe’s membrane, through which the cytoplasm (cell contents) flows out. Therefore, it dies quickly. And the nanoparticle moves on, continuing to kill other single-celled harmful microorganisms.
Sealing
“GIDROBINT #1” is practically airtight, and thus can also be useful in preventing the threat of open pneumothorax, a traumatic depressurization of the chest that causes lethal deflation (collapse) of the lungs due to air entering the gap between the lungs and chest through the hole created by penetrating wounds (from firearms or bladed weapons). Sealing is ensured due to the fact that the hydrogel dressing fills the relief of the wound edges, and therefore can be easily applied both on accessible surfaces and in places inconvenient for applying such material (for example, in the form of a face mask).
“GIDROBINT No. 1” is completely safe (since no residual radiation accumulates in them after the ionizing radiation stops), biocompatible, i.e. compatible with human tissues (since it is made using polymers used as thickeners in the confectionery industry) and biologically inert (since it does not cause irritation or allergic reactions).

RESEARCH AND EFFICIENCY OF THE PRODUCT "GIDROBINT No. 1"
From September 2017 to February 2018 The Center for Thermal Trauma and Plastic Surgery in Kyiv studies of the “GIDROBINT” medical dressing were conducted on 50 patients of the Center to assets the effectiveness of “GIDROBINT“, convenience and safety of use, indications and contraindications for use, and the quality of technical documentation.
During the tests “GIDROBINT” proved to be highly effective, convenient and safe to use. It was determined that “GIDROBINT” has a significant analgesic effect on the wound, no adhesion to wounds, significant sorption capacity and high healing efficiency.
In 2017, GIDROBINT was used at the Military Medical Center of the Northern Region to test the bandage’s therapeutic properties. The product was used in 24 patients with various pathologies, namely:
- acute purulent skin diseases;
- trophic ulcers of diabetic genesis;
- trophic ulcers of vascular genesis;
- conditions after surgical treatment of acute and exacerbation of chronic diseases of the skin and subcutaneous fatty tissue;
- thermal burns.
The following results were obtained:
- acceleration of the formation of the demarcation line of infected wounds was noted;
- absence of allergic reactions or deterioration of the condition as a result of using the “GIDROBINT No. 1” dressing;
- wound healing in accordance with the expected timeframe.

Instructions for use
Purpose: protection and treatment of I-IIA degree burns, moderately infected wounds, trophic ulcers, pressure ulcers, granulating wounds.
Ingredients and action: water, polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, silver in the form of nanoparticles and ions.
Soft and moist, does not stick to the wound, so it is removed painlessly, does not cause irritation or allergies. It protects the wound from mechanical stress and external infection; disinfects, cools and anesthetizes; creates and maintains a moist environment favorable for healing; absorbs physiological wound secretions, allows oxygen and medicinal solutions to pass through, but does not allow bacteria to pass through.
How to use:
- Tear the package on three sides for easy application of the dressing to the wound
- Fold back the outer part of the package and apply “GIDROBINT No. 1” to the wound
- Lightly smooth the dressing on the outer surface covered with the packaging to seal the contact with the body. Remove the packaging from the dressing completely
- Apply a medical cotton gauze napkin over the wound. Fix the two-layer bandage (made of “HIDROBINT №1” and a napkin) on the body with a bandage or other similar means.
The time spent by “GIDROBINT No. 1” on the wound can be up to 20-25 hours and is determined by the intensity of physiological discharge from the wound and the mode of moisture exchange with the environment.
When “GIDROBINT No. 1” dries and hardens, it should be replaced with another. ” “HYDROBINT No. 1” does not stick to wounds. Therefore, for painless removal of the bandage based on “HYDROBINT No. 1”, it is enough to remove the bandage, then bend the bandage by the edge of the plate, remove it from the body together with a napkin.
Contraindications: the product should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to one of the components, on open bones, muscles, tendons, in case of profuse purulent discharge from wounds, fungal infections, third-degree burns.
Special warnings: every time a wound is poorly healed, a medical examination should be performed to assess the condition of the wound and identify factors that impede its healing.
Storage conditions: in the manufacturer’s packaging at a temperature of +5°C to +50°C at a humidity not exceeding 85%, away from heat sources, protected from moisture and sunlight.
Dispose of used “GIDROBINT No. 1” dressings in accordance with the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Rules and Regulations for Medical Waste Management approved by Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 325 dated 08.06.2015.
Shelf life: 5 years from the date of manufacture indicated on the product packaging.
