Burns are one of the most common injuries encountered at home, in the kitchen, at work, or while traveling. They can occur as a result of contact with hot liquids, flames, electricity, chemicals, or even excessive sun exposure.
The main rule is to act quickly and carefully to avoid aggravating the condition and prevent infection.
Types of burns: how to recognize the degree
A first-degree burn is superficial. The skin turns red, swells a little, burning, but without blisters.
A second-degree burn is deeper. The lower layer of the skin is affected, blisters appear, and the pain is intense.
A third-degree burn is a serious injury. All layers of skin and subcutaneous tissues are affected. The skin becomes white, gray or black, and sensitivity is lost. It requires immediate medical attention and often surgical intervention.

What to do with a thermal burn: step-by-step help
- Turn off the heat source. Move the person away from the source of the fire or hot surface.
- Remove clothing or jewelry if it is not stuck to the skin.
- Cool the burn with cool (not ice-cold!) water or a compress. Cool for 10-20 minutes.
- Take a pain reliever (e.g., ibuprofen or paracetamol) if necessary and there are no contraindications.
5. Cover the wound with a sterile dressing to prevent infection. Ideally, with a specialized hydrogel dressing, such as Hydrobint.
When do I need to see a doctor?
Do not self-medicate if:
- a blistered burn larger than the palm of your hand
- the face, genitals, hands, feet or joints are affected
- burns in a child or elderly person
- injury caused by electric shock or chemicals
- skin became white, brown or black, lost sensitivity
- the wound does not heal for more than 14 days

Hydrobint – a modern solution for the treatment of first- and second-degree burns
If you can’t immediately cool the burn with water, Hydrobint is the perfect first aid.
This is a sterile hydrogel dressing that:
- reduces pain and tissue temperature
- creates a moist environment for natural healing
- has an antiseptic effect due to silver nanoparticles
- does not stick to the wound – can be removed painlessly
- allows you to observe the condition of the skin through a transparent structure
It is convenient to have a hydrobint in the first aid kit at home, in the car or in a tourist backpack.
When shouldn’t Hydrobint be used?
It is contraindicated to use the bandage if:
- you are allergic to its components
- exposed bones, tendons or muscles are affected
- strong purulent discharge is observed
- the wound has a fungal infection
- it is a third degree burn or chemical damage

How to apply HydroBrite correctly:
- Tear the package on three sides
- Fold the edge and apply the dressing to the wound
- Press lightly to ensure contact
- Remove the packaging completely
